DrugScope is the UK's leading independent centre of expertise on drugs. Our aim is to inform policy development and reduce drug-related risk. We provide quality drug information, promote effective responses to drug taking, undertake research at local, national and international levels, advise on policy-making, encourage informed debate and speak for our member organisations working on the ground.

HIT delivers effective interventions on drugs, community safety and other public health concerns. We produce publications, run mass media campaigns, deliver training, organise conferences and provide consultancy to individuals, community groups, health and social care and criminal justice agencies locally, nationally and at an international level. HIT, formerly the Mersey Drug Training and Information Centre was established in 1985 to reduce drug-related harm and set up one of the UK's first syringe exchange schemes. Based in Liverpool where we still provide a reference library on drugs, the organisation has an international reputation for developing, advocating and implementing a pragmatic and effective approach to the use of drugs. HIT: Provides a wide range of training courses that helps develop the competence and confidence needed to work with drug users in line with DANOS Organise events from intimate seminars to national conferences Uses social marketing techniques to develop leaflets, posters, condom packs, videos and games for PSCHE providers (personal, social, citizenship and health education) Are the exclusive providers of HIT, DrugScope and Healthwise publications Provides consultancy that helps professionals improve the planning, commissioning and delivery of interventions Our work includes: Encouraging safer injecting practises to prevent the spread of HIV and BBV's (blood-borne viruses) Implementing the Models of Care Providing information about drugs and the law Improving sexual health and knowledge of BBV's Promoting safer clubbing Young people and alcohol Reducing violence and glass-related injury, and Preventing overdose

Lifeline Project
In 1971 the Lifeline Project opened a daycentre for drug users in Manchester. Since its foundation Lifeline has grown and developed, and now works in a diverse range of settings across the UK. Our purpose is to relieve poverty, sickness and distress among those persons affected by addiction to drugs of any kind, and to educate the public on matters relating to drug misuse.

Drug - Street Terms and Slang Dictionary
The Street Terms database contains over 2,300 street terms that refer to specific drug types or drug activity. The database is used by police officers, parents, treatment providers and others who require a better understanding of drug culture. Ever felt that your street cred vocabulary was lacking a little? Haven't a clue what the man is going on about or what it is he's about to offer you? Well, worry no more thanks to the White House's very own super hip Street Guide...Get hip, doodz!!! (Some of it's totally ridiculous, but hopefully some of you might find it helpful).
